On September 10, 10am PDT Apple showed off its newest products. Read everything important here.
new base model: the iPad 10.2” (7th Generation)
The new iPad comes with a slightly larger 10.2” screen, the A10 Fusion processor, the smart connector to connect keyboards and of course iPadOS. Apple claims the enclosure to be maid out of 100% recycled aluminium. It starts at $329 and will be available at September 30, preorders starting today.
Apple Watch Series 5
Series 5 has an always-on LTPO display for the first time, so you can always see the time without activating the device. The watch now has a built in compass to see your direction. The new watch also has international emergency calling built in, without needing a seperate phone. There are a few new materials and colours, including a really white one, titanium and 100% recycled aluminium. Official battery life is 18 hours. The watch will start at $399 for the basic and $499 for the cellular model. It will be available starting September 20 (preorders today). The price of Series 3 will be reduced to $199.
The back side is made of a single piece of glass. It comes in new colors, with a true tone 6.1” LRD, Dolby Atmos and two cameras..
..a wide and an ultra-wide one. It also comes with improved Night mode, transitioning between the cameras in videos, 4K 60fps on both cameras and more. QuickTake makes it easier to take a quick video, by holding the shutter in photo mode.
The front camera has also been improved and received a slow motion recording feature.
iPhone 11 comes with the new A13 Bionic processor, which Apple claims to be the fastest CPU and GPU in a smartphone. According to Apple, the battery life will be 1 hour more than in iPhone XR, which until now was the iPhone with the best battery life ever. It also has faster Face ID, is water proof (IP68) and more.
The new iPhone 11 will be available on September 20, starting at $699.
iPhone 11 Pro
iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max comes with a enhanced display, of course also the new 7nm A13 Bionic with 8.5 billion transistors.
It is available in four colors. The back is also made of a single piece of glass.
iPhone 11 Pro comes with three cameras. A wide, a ultra wide and a telephoto one. A new feature called Deep Fusion will be available later this year with an update. It shots 9 images in total and combines than just within one second, to optimize for detail and low noice. While recording video, the system auto-calibrates the cameras you are not using to the same color settings and focus to ensure smooth transitions while filming.
The device will have up to 4h (Pro) or 5h (Pro Max) longer battery life compared to the previous generation.
iPhone 11 Pro will be available on September 20, starting at $999 and iPhone 11 Pro Max at $1099.
As every year, Apple reduces the prices of some older models, specifically of the iPhone 8 and iPhone XR.
With Apple Arcade, which has already been shown earlier this year, you can download mostly indie-like games from smaller creators with a subscription instead of buying them. So it’s basically like a Netflix for mobile games on Apple platforms. Your games will still run on your own hardware, and not in the cloud, like with services as Google Stadia or Shadow. It will be available on September 19 in over 150 countries worldwide for only $4.99 a month in a family subscription. You can get the first month for free.
Apple tv+, also shown off first earlier this year, will be available beginning November 1st in over 100 countries at launch for also just $4.99 a month for the whole family.
tv+ is a subscription service for the newly produced Apple Originals like See, The Morning Show and more.
Also, when buying new Apple hardware like a new iPhone, iPad or Mac, you will get a whole year for free.
